Forced adoption apology broadcast locally

The NSW Government will issue an official apology for past forced adoption practices on Thursday, September 20, at 10.30am in the Legislative Assembly.
Arrangements are in place for people who are not able to attend Sydney to view the live broadcast of the apology.
“There are many people in the Electorate who will welcome this landmark apology for past adoption practices,” said Member for Northern Tablelands Richard Torbay.
“Arrangements are in place and an open invitation issued by the Government for those wanting to view the apology in person, to attend parliament house.
“The Armidale City Bowling Club has kindly made arrangements for a private area in the club to be available for people to view the live broadcast.
“Hopefully, this apology will provide some comfort to those affected by past adoption practices, by acknowledging the hurt suffered by the 150,000 women forced to relinquish their babies between 1951 and 1975, the fathers of those children and the children themselves.”
The broadcast commences at 10.30am on Thursday, September 20. The broadcast can also be viewed live via the webcast at www.parliament.nsw.gov.au.
