Two years ago Kingscliff Dune Care Group watched helplessly as the plants they had planted and cared for were washed out to sea as part of a ruthless erosion cell which swept along the coast north of Cudgen Creek.
But now, with a little help from nature (and the recent ex-tropical cyclone) and a local business, the group is starting to restore the dune plants, from the creek north to the Surf Club.
This week the group received a $1000 helping hand from Holcim – a global-based concreting group started in 1991 – who were in town holding a team-building exercise with new Kingscliff-based company Team Building Guru.
Team Building Guru is sister company to successful Eco-tour company Water Sports Guru – headed up by Tim Jack Adams.
“This is actually the first gig for Team Building Guru,” Tim said on Tuesday before work began.
“We have 120 people from Holcim and we are holding a scavenger hunt all over Kingscliff. As part of their time with us I wanted them to donate time and money to charity and so I scouted around and Dune Care seemed the obvious.
