An investigation continues into the disappearance of a man last month in the Byron area.
On Thursday, January 31, Police from the Tweed Byron Local Area Command were informed that a Queensland registered Ford Falcon had been left on a flooded causeway at Byrangery Creek at Repentance Creek.
Police attended the location and found the vehicle to be unlocked and the contents wet, indicating that recent floodwaters had entered the car.
Investigators believe that the driver of the vehicle may have attempted to cross the causeway and the vehicle’s motor stalled.
Several inquiries have been made to locate the owner of the vehicle, 29-year-old Charl Viviers in NSW and Queensland, without success.
Police do have concerns for his welfare as he requires regular medication and many of his belongings remain in the vehicle.
Charl is described as being of Caucasian appearance with a fair complexion and slim build.
He also has short dark hair and a beard.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact Byron Bay Police or Crime Stoppers on 1 800 333 000 immediately.
