Stop and pray for peace and understanding

All around the world on Friday, people will stop and pray and think of others as part of the World Day of Prayer.

Here on the Tweed Coast, the non-denominational services are being hosted by the Uniting Churches.

A World Day of Prayer 2013 Service will be held in Twin Towns Uniting Church Cnr Lanham and McLean Street,s Coolangatta at 10am (Qld time).

The Tweed Coast service is being hosted this year by the Kingscliff Uniting Church, off Kingscliff Street beside the nursing home at 10am (NSW).

The service originally started as a worldwide movement of Christian women dating back to the 19th Century. But it is no longer just the domain of women and brings together Christian people from more 170 countries for an annual day of worship and prayer on the first Friday of March each year.

This year’s Service has been prepared by a committee from France, titled “I WAS A STRANGER AND YOU WELCOMED ME”.

While most of the service is read as prepared by the committee in France (a different country prepares the service every year and next year it is Egypt), there is room for a guest speaker and at Kingscliff it will be Euxodia. Euxodia is Congolese and has now moved to Mullumbimby.
