Rain may have washed out the first attempt at Clean Up Australia day but it hasn’t put the Tweed Byron Local Aboriginal Land Council (TBLALC) off.
The group has organised a big
clean-up of rubbish for Clean Up Australia Day on Saturday, March 23 on Tweed Byron Local Aboriginal Land Council – both sides of Letitia Road, Fingal.
The Land Council invites all those interested to register at the TBLALC compound near the end of the bitumen on Letitia Road between 9am and 12pm and stay for as long as you like.
The TBLALCl has a grant from the Environmental Protection Authority of NSW for the Aboriginal Land Clean-Up Project to help protect and rehabilitate the area.
The clean-up involves removal of illegally dumped waste, blocking illegally made vehicle access tracks and revegetation of specific target areas.
The project is part of an ongoing campaign to stop illegal activities and four wheel driving on the ecologically significant beaches, dunes, wetland and bush of Letitia Spit.
If you would like to help, come and sign on at the end of the bitumen on Letitia Road at Fingal. Bring gloves, bags and water, wear covered footwear, hat and sunblock and join the people who appreciate this beautiful, unique natural environment.
