Locals triumph in Kingy Tri

The seventh bi-annual Kingscliff Triathlon held on March 9 and 10 was marked as a huge success by both participants and event organisers, with almost 1000 competitors taking part.

Gloomy skies caused some doubt early on that the event would go ahead but the skies cleared up and provided competitors with beautiful conditions.

In the men’s Olympic open category, Brian Fuller took out first place, with Alex Rigby and Michael Glover coming second and third respectively. In the women’s Olympic open category, Margo Mackintosh took the title, with Michelle Barns and Liz Fancutt coming in second and third.

Organisers QSMsports would like to thank the continued support of the Tweed community and the sponsors that were integral in making this event possible. Special mention must go to Tweed Coast Holiday Parks, Hyundai, Megaburn, Fusion Cycles, on-running and ISM Seats Australia.

Event promoters QSMsports will stage the next Tweed Coast Holiday Parks Kingscliff Multisport Weekend on the first weekend of December, which will now include a half marathon to attract a wider range of participants. QSMsports look forward to providing another successful event in December!
