Climate Change is no laughing matter but then again…….
The man who has been called “A living Melbourne Treasure” Rod Quantock has been making us laugh, and think about Climate Change for a while now.
Mind you if any comedian was going to take on climate change – it was always going to be Quantock (the man most of us remember for his night cap and night shirt in THOSE ads).
For four decades Quantock has been pushing the comedy envelope, proving that for an old boy he can still cut it with the best of them, his live shows box office hits at both Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Adelaide Fringe Festival from year to year.
Quantock continues to evolve and stay at the forefront of his craft. He is known for his original and peculiar style of satirical stand up, often politically driven, fuelled by his passion for social justice and his involvement in political activism.
He is not just a comedian, he’s a philosopher, an intellectual and a critical thinker.
Quantock continues to push the boundaries with his new stand up show ‘Bugger the Polar Bears, This is Serious’ a powerful and disturbing look at climate change, population growth and planetary sustainability. Few comics have managed to effectively satirise climate change and our human impotence, but Quantock pulls it off in five star style, he even has some global solutions that are quite revolutionary!
As one reviewer said, Quantock is the thinking audience’s comic. Hilarious, passionate and socially responsible. He is the headline comic at the Currumbin RSL’s Side Splitting Comedy on Wednesday 27 March at 7.30pm.
He is joined by Fiona McGary, a nationally featured comic in her own right who has appeared alongside Arj Barker, Judith Lucy and Wil Anderson. Mandy Nolan is MC on this night of environmentally friendly, sustainable comedy!
