A red hot Murwillumbah FC demolished Gold Coast Knight 6-0 in their Gold Coast Premier League Soccer match at the weekend.
Form goal scorers Luke Morley and Troy Ruthven put goals past the Knights keeper early before Simon Hurcombe joined in also hitting the back of the net twice.
The Murwillumbah defence was without Joel Saye, but Kurt Buchannan stepped up from reserves and slotted into the back four as if he had been there all season.
The game was closely watched by Broadbeach FC coach Lee Vernon, who has a lot to think about prior to the first versus second spot clash this Friday night at Chelsea Park.
Tweed United had a fight on their hands against Pac Pines which ended in a two-all draw with goals from Jonathan Mortimer and Ricardo De Azevedo.
Kingscliff went 2-1 to Coomera a game which could of gone either way but just wasn’t Kingscliff`s day, They came close in the last five minutes to equalize but where denied by the work wood.
Two under-12 Kingscliff FC juniors, Oliver Gladwin and Tim Lahiff who now play for Brisbane Strikers in the QLD NPL, have been selected to train with the FFA Skill Acquisition program.
This is massive achievement for football on the Tweed, having two players selected to train with 20 of the most technical players in Queensland. These two players have both joined kingscliff as five year olds and attended many skill-based programs we have run on the Tweed and progressed to GC zonal programs. Their hard work is now starting pay off but they still have a long way to go. So keep working hard and most important keep having fun! Well done to Oliver Gladwin and Tim Lahiff.
