TWEED PCYC will receive a financial helping hand thanks to a Charity Race Day being held at the Gold Coast Turf Club on May 25.
The event is being organised by the Bank of Queensland Coolangatta Branch, who have chosen the PCYC as their nominated charity.
Doug Cook, owner-Manager of the BOQ Coolangatta, approached the PCYC earlier this year offering to support them with the event.
Doug said it was great to be able to help an organisation that has given him so much over the years.
“My brother and I spent a lot of our childhood at our local PCYC. Growing up, it gave us direction, skills and many friendships were forged,” he said.
“As I have young children of my own, I hope to one day see them use the amazing services the PCYC offers.”
Tweed Heads PCYC manager Mark Madden said he was overwhelmed by the timely support.
”We are delighted with BOQ Coolangatta’s support through this event,” he said.
“Due to the recent poor weather we had to postpone our annual golf day until later in the year, and in addition to being involved with a fun event, the race day provides us with the opportunity to obtaining some much needed funds and interaction with the business community. It has been fantastic to meet Doug also, who’s a very driven and community-minded businessperson”.
Tables of 10 are available for $600 which includes racecourse entry and lunch in the beautiful trackside Dome at the Gold Coast Turf Club. Individual tickets may also be purchased at $60 each.
Return mini-bus transport from Tweed/Coolangatta is also being co-ordinated through the PCYC, at an additional cost. Phone 07 5599 1714.
