TWEED River High, the North Coast Netball Champions, headed off last Tuesday to compete at the state finals in Sydney on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Tweed Netball Association was happy to make a donation to the team, as it was great that they accepted the offer to wear our former rep uniforms while competing.
The team is coached by Jenny Alford and includes Teagan Jefferies, Zoe Nuss, Caitlin Bell, Kate Marshall, Jennifer Alford (teacher) Caitlin Beazley, Olivia Attenborough-Doyle, Ally Sharp, Brodhi Avis and Nikaila Hartley.
The team came up against some tough competition and was happy to finish sixth in the state for the carnival. Coach Jenny Alford was very happy with the strong performance of her team members and their attitude towards netball.
The girls all performed well over the two day carnival. Sadly, Nik Hartley suffered a knee injury and will be out for a while recovering.
Tweed reps certainly have a big month with a carnival on every Sunday in May. Teams competed over the Mother’s Day weekend at Logan and we were all very impressed by the performances of the teams – they all turned on the talent for their mums.  Our 15 years and 13s Div 1 won their division, our 13 years TicTacs finished runner-up in Division 2. I understand that all of our mums enjoyed their day and we sincerely thank you all for giving up your time on such a special day.
Reminder that our general meeting is to be held this Wednesday night from 7pm at the clubhouse.  All teams are reminded to be in attendance. Sadly, rain washed out play over the weekend, our Monday night, hopefully will be played as this is the last round of this season’s competition. Finals will be played next Monday 20 May (1 v 4 and 2 v 3 in each division) with the winners to play off in the grand final on 27 May.
Our Netsetgo program will commence from round eight and we are still awaiting on a volunteer to come forward to run this program.
Our rep teams will be rostered on to assist with the running of this program and we would appreciate hearing from our clubs as to whether they have someone who can assist.
If we can get more than one volunteer that would be great.
Big welcome and thank you to Christine Rogers who has taken on the position of canteen convenor and she has certainly made a positive impact already. Also we have our own coffee machine installed and running out of the canteen with the first week being successful, and it will only get better as the weather cools.
Tweed Netball has again secured Laura Geitz to run her clinic, on 27 September. Bookings will be able to be made through the Laura Geitz website and we will confirm one this is open to nominate. This clinic was extremely popular last year with over 60 players attending. Keep your eye on this space for further details.
