Fashion fun for fund-raiser

THE cameras will flash as models grace the catwalk – no it’s not Milan, New York or even Melbourne, it will be Tweed Heads Civic Centre tomorrow night for the annual Tweed Hospital Auxiliary Fashion Parade.
Doors will open at 6.30pm and models will begin their sashays down the catwalk at 7.30pm for this year’s fashion spectacular “Fashion For All”.
And of course, as black and white is the new black, the civic centre will be a picture of black and white (this year’s colour scheme according to auxiliary committee member Jean Tobin).
Jean said as well as being a lot of fun the event, hosted by the ever fashionable Maggie-Anne Leybourne of BAM Promotions and events, is a very important event on the auxiliary calendar and one of its biggest fund-raisers.
“We have been holding this event for many years now,” she said.
“It was traditionally held on a Monday during the day but we’ve made some changes this year and it allows a lot more of the hospital staff to come along and enjoy the event.
“But it also has a serious side and we are hoping to raise enough money to buy three blood pressure machines.”
The event is well supported by local businesses who have come on board to show their fashions and get in the fund-raising spirit.
This year’s fashions have been provided by Casuals On Griffith, Connor, Lowe’s Menswear, Man to Man, Margie’s Boutique, Noni B, Rockmans, Suzanne Grae, Tummy Control, Ting Ting and W Lane.
Tickets are available at the Tweed Heads Civic Centre Box Office today and tomorrow from 11am-2pm and outside the gift shop at the hospital or online at thcccbookings@yahoo.com.au
Admission is $15 and includes light refreshments.
