Armidale Greyhounds held the first meet of the Armidale Cup Carnival on Saturday with a strong field of visiting trainers dominating the field.
Beachwood trainer Maureen West took home the winners cheque of $2000.00 when her greyhound Bowtie Boy won the maiden final on Saturday. Beginning well from box seven he showed his rivals a clean pair of heels to score by four lengths. Second place was Maddie Rose Hi, with third placing to Cosmic Horror.
Casino trainer Bruce Caden continued his good run by winning three races, two thirds and one second.
Popular Watson’s Creek trainer Arthur Wright landed a double by winning the first two races with Kikem La and Lightning Louie.
Four heats for fifth grade greyhound were run with first and second place going in the final Saturday February 9. Visiting trainers won all ten races which shows just how popular the Armidale track is. Heats of the Armidale Cup will be run this Saturday with the final to conclude the cup carnival on Saturday February 16.
