TWO NSW bowlers have scooped the pool in the inaugural prestigious invitation only Silver Nugget Bowls championships held at Tweed Heads Bowls Club last week.
Mathew Pietersen from Cabramatta won the men’s division and Sarah Boddington from Bombaderry took the women’s title of the event for bowlers aged 18 to 25.
The competition was started this year to compliment the long-running Gold Nugget competition. It attracted the top young bowlers from around Australia and New Zealand.
The event was a new initiative by THBC to fill the major gap for this age group. THBC currently host the Junior Golden Nugget Prestige Singles for under 18, and the Golden Nugget for our top players throughout Australia.
The annual junior Golden Nugget singles event for under 18s will be held from Saturday 3 August, with the finals being played on Sunday 4 August.
While the long-standing Golden Nugget event will be held from 6 to 9 August at the Tweed club. Both events attract the best bowlers from throughout Australian and New Zealand.
