Mama’s New Bag

By TANIA PHILLIPS

YOU name it and the members of Gold Coast-based band Mama’s New Bag have done it.

The band members – singer Andrea Szabo, bass player Geordie Leach, drummer Terry Gascoigne and guitarist Ray J. Oliver, come from diverse backgrounds in the Australian Music Industry.
Between them there aren’t many well-known Australian (and some famous overseas) names they haven’t worked with.
Together they are dedicated to working solidly to keep rhythm and blues live, alive and entertaining.
Mama’s New Bag play a combination of original music and fantastic original versions of covers with an emphasis on guitar and the rhythm section.
Andrea has the ability to vocally defy gravity one moment, then drop you on your butt the next with her deepest bellow.
A carefully chosen song selection ensures audiences are treated to a fine menu, from the likes of Etta James, Muddy Waters, Ernestine Anderson to Koko Taylor and many, many more.
