Local songs hit market

From left, Gerard Larkins, Chris Garden, Ruth Strutt and Peter Maddox will perform at the next Market Sunday Concert.

TWO song cycles by local composer Peter Maddox will feature in the Music on a Market Sunday concert at the Uniting Church at 12.30pm on 26 May. One of these, Thirteen Grace Notes for Water also has a text by a local poet Yve Louis.
This cycle will be sung by Ruth Strutt accompanied by Chris Garden (clarinet) Gerard Larkins (flute) and Peter Maddox on keyboard.
The other cycle, Six Leaves from Leunig’s ‘Prayer Tree’ will be sing by Inge Southcott, with Jacqui Thompson (viola), Charlotte Hayes (cello) and the composer again on piano.
Peter Maddox has written extensively for voice and has worked with Inge and Ruth for many years.
This is a great opportunity to hear two of Armidale’s leading vocalists promoting Armidale’s thriving creative musical and poetic culture.
Admission to the concert is free, though donations are encouraged. Tea and sausages are available at the Uniting Church before the concert.
