THEY say the family that plays together, stays together and that definitely seems the case for Jimmy Barnes and his clan.
It will be a true family affair when Jimmy returns to Twin Towns this weekend for one of the opening shows on his Welcome To The Pleasure House National tour.
Daughter Mahalia and her partner Ben and band will open the show for the rock legend before backing up, along with son Jackie and daughter Ellie-May, to play in Jimmy’s band. His wife Jane is also along too, looking after Mahalia’s baby Ruby.
For Mahalia, who recently became an ambassador for weight watchers as well as forging a successful career in her own right, touring with her dad is all part of the fun of doing what you love for a living.
“We are a close-knit family and I think it is something special (performing together) that a lot of people never get to experience,” she said.
She said it’s great to find people that you love to work with that are on your wave length and she loves that feeling, but performing with her family “lifts it to another level”.
And it doesn’t hurt when your dad is one of the best-loved and talented performers in the country.
For the past three decades, Jimmy Barnes has ruled supreme as Australia’s undisputed king of rock and roll.
His extraordinary career as both a solo performer and as the lead vocalist with the legendary Cold Chisel has made Jimmy one of the most popular and highest selling Australian music artists of all time. In addition he can also lay claim to an incredible 13 No.1 albums across his illustrious career.
This year has already seen Barnes tear up the stage alongside ‘The Boss’ – Bruce Springsteen at his Hanging Rock ‘Wrecking Ball’ tour dates. Now, Barnes is geared up to bring his iconic live show packed with all the hits back to Aussie audiences.
