THE Tweed Coast is set to hold its own mini Brisbane Ekka complete with sideshow alley and fire works as local families gear up for a big day out on Saturday 24 August at the Lindisfarne Fun Fest in Terranora.
The family friendly event is a whole community festival and will take place in the picturesque grounds of Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School in Mahers Lane from 1 pm to 6 pm and will have dedicated zones for tiny tots, big kids and parents to cater for all age groups.
This year’s event will provide something for every family member to guarantee a great time with more than 3000 people expected to attend.
A dedicated sideshow alley with rides featured at the Royal Easter Show and the Brisbane EKKA will ensure that there will be plenty of thrills and excitement. Popular fun events such as sponge throwing, slot cars, photo booth and chocolate throwing competition will add to the enjoyment on the day.
This year there will be a dedicated area for the younger ones in the tiny tots zone, which will include face painting, story telling, craft and balloon modelling.
School principal Chris Duncan said the Lindisfarne Senior Concert Band, buskers, karate and sword fighting demonstrations and Aerial Angels and Trapeze will provide entertainment throughout the day.
“Our school grounds are the perfect setting for the 2013 Fun Fest and it is shaping up to be a big family day with entertainment, book stalls, market stalls, and will culminate with a fireworks display on our top oval at 6pm,” he said.
There will be many local delicacies at the beer and food tent, cake stall with jams and preserves as well as a variety of hot food and hot and cold drinks for sale.
There will be a cent auction, a silent auction of student art works and an exciting auction of many wonderful items that have been generously donated by our sponsors and supporters.
Discounted online ride and attraction tickets are available at the Lindisfarne website www.lindisfarne.nsw.edu.au
