IT is hard to turn on a television these days without seeing Tom Gleeson pop up.
The talented comedian is currently wowing audiences (and winning ratings) as part of the team on the new Channel Ten panel program This Week.
He’s been nominated for a Helpmann Award twice and won the Piece of Wood Comedian’s Choice Award in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Tom has performed several times at all three major comedy festivals in Melbourne, Edinburgh and Montreal as well as the invite-only Kilkenny Comedy Festival in Ireland.
The Sydney Morning Herald declared Gleeson’s wit ‘lethal’ – his James Blunt “beautiful” parody was a killer. Show after show, season after season never fails to hit the spot. And now, Tweed Coast audiences have a chance to witness this comedy veteran.
Gleeson is no stranger to the box, a regular on The Project and you might even remember him as the bloke from Skithouse when he played the ‘fast bowler’ and various other characters.
You may have seen him on one of his many regular appearances on Rove, or maybe you caught him on Australia’s Brainiest Radio Star, The Glasshouse, Thank God You’re Here, Good News Week and nearly any comedy focused show on the box. Oh, did I mention that Super Tom is also an award-winning radio presenter?
As a stand-up, there is not much Tom hasn’t done. Tom has performed at the Sydney Opera House, every capital city in Australia, London, Montreal, Edinburgh, Dublin, New York, Los Angeles, Singapore, Hong Kong, Jakarta as well as entertaining the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was also selected to perform as part of the Melbourne Comedy Festival Roadshow for the past six years.
In 2012, Tom returned to the stage with his live stand up show Good One. He performed at Adelaide Fringe, Brisbane Comedy Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Perth International Comedy Festival and the Sydney Comedy Store. In 2013 he will make Australia his bitch once more with his new stage show, Hello Bitches, which is already his biggest selling tour with crowds lining up in Adelaide and Melbourne.
Tom is joined by comedian, social provocateur Mandy Nolan, the woman the Sunday Telegraph’s Lollie Barr declared was ‘the new goddess of Australian Comedy.’
