Sonic sits in pole position

Tweed Tennis By PETER LUC

THE Friday and Saturday junior competitions are heading into the last two rounds before the finals.
At the moment, Sonic Pottsville continue to lead the way in the Friday pennants after beating the second placed Banora Champions. With Kirra Wilson Wackers holding down third place comfortably from Tweed Grandslams, the ladder positions look like they’ll stay as is with a couple of rounds to go before the finals.
In the Saturday fixtures, Murwillumbah and Tweed Heads teams are going hammer and tong, leading the way in the various divisions, but with other teams from Pottsville, Banora, Kirra and Kingscliff hot on their heels, it’s going to come down to the final round to decide the semi-finalists.
Last week, the Cardio Tennis workshop presented by Tennis NSW hit the Tweed District. Cardio Tennis is taking Australia by storm. It’s a low cost, fun and active way for people of all ages to get a bit of fitness on the tennis court but you don’t have to be a tennis player. Conducted by tennis club coaches, it is professionally run and monitored. Check out your local club for details.
On the rep scene, we’ve just arrived back from the North East/West Champion of Champions tournament at Inverell. Stay tuned for next week’s story where we’ll provide some fantastic news and photos of our juniors’ achievements from the tournament.
