ROBB College students were in pyjamas last week on a fund-raising mission for Can Assist.
All week students wore pyjamas while participating in fun activities at the college and selling raffle tickets in the mall.
To date Robb College has raised around $18,000 for Can Assist, a community-based charity dedicated to supporting country people affected by cancer and their families.
“Wearing pyjamas is meant to be symbolic of comfortability in regards to the free accommodation that Can Assist provides,” Robb College Charity Officer Connie Campbell said.
“On the back of our pyjamas it says ‘Robb College can and will assist’ which is our logo for the year.”
Throughout last week Robb College hosted a variety of functions each evening which included a waxing competition, eating competition and obstacle course.
During the day the students have been busy selling raffle tickets in the Armidale Mall and visiting Guyra and Uralla. The students have also put together a nude calendar which has gone on sale for $25 and is available at Robb College or the Royal Hotel.
Connie says it is very important for the students at Robb College to get involved with their community and give back through fund-raising.
“Robb College is an agricultural college and Can Assist is something that we really want to show we care about because we are the future of regional and rural Australia,” Connie said.
“It could easily be one of us down the track that needs the support of Can Assist.”
