Palmer United Party leader Clive Palmer has announced that Dr Phil Allen, candidate for Richmond, will sit on the front bench if his party is successful at the election.
Dr Allen, a senior orthopaedic surgeon who has been in practice in the Richmond electorate for the past 15 years, will become the Palmer United Party Shadow Minister for Health, Innovation, Industry, Science and Higher Education.
He said he was honoured to take such a prominent role in the party, especially in a portfolio that combines science with forward thinking.
“I am honored to be trusted with these critical national portfolios,” Dr Allen said.
“There is tremendous opportunity across these areas to drive Australia forward.
“Major injections of funding into our healthcare system and extension of the disability scheme to cover all ages have already been announced by the Palmer United Party.
“In education, we have also flagged significant new investment.
“If we are to build our nation to become a world leader in technology, innovation and industry, these investments in healthcare and education cannot come soon enough.
“Working together across this nation the Palmer United Party will deliver a better, farer, more prosperous Australia, while developing the technology for a greener future.”
Clive Palmer will be announcing the remaining members of his shadow cabinet over the coming weeks in the lead up to the 7 September Federal Election.
