Local author wins gold in the US

Former Tweed journalist Stephanie Dale has won a gold medal in the elite US publishing awards, the Independent Publisher Book Awards.
Stephanie, who now lives at Byron, scooped gold with her recent novel, Hymn for the Wounded Man, and will travel to New York City next week to collect her award.
“I’m going to New York on a needle in a haystack mission to find an international publishing deal for both my books,” Stephanie said.
“This award is a great start to the trip!”
Stephanie is an Australian self-publishing success story, with her first book, the poignant travel memoir My Pilgrim’s Heart, selling its first print run within four weeks of its 2009 release.
She released Hymn for the Wounded Man, a virile love story set in New Zealand, a year later, in November last year.
