I couldn’t believe how early the wind picked up on the weekend and it didn’t stop at all. I made my way to the car wrecks on the way to Cobakia around 5am and the strong gusts were starting already but when I got to the spot it was out of the wind and calm with no current which is perfect conditions for hunting the Tweed’s elusive ‘Mulloway’.
I hit the wall for a good hour before I caught my first schoolie, another great fight with me doing the best netting ever. First go straight in the middle of the net.
I could only manage one this week, I find it strange that at this particular spot you never seem to get any little fish like bream or flathead, you catch them on the other side of the river but not off the wall, which tells me they know they will get eaten so they keep away, maybe they are smarter than we give them credit for.
Sunday saw my mate Richard and his girl Cindy and myself out on the river in our yaks.
Cindy has just bought a new hobie, the latest model and it’s awesome, Ric and I were pretty jealous watching Cindy firing off casts while standing up. The yak is so big almost a mini boat, you could probably take 10 rods with four stored in the deck and the seat Wow! It’s like a really comfortable deck chair, oh and there’s two drink holders, nice yak Cindy, go girl.
