Federal member for Richmond Justine Elliot officially opened the $1.85 million Bogangar Public School Building the Education Revolution [BER] projects on Tuesday this week.
Bogangar Public School received $1,700,000 for two new classrooms and a Computer Lab under the Primary Schools for the 21st Century (P21) and also received $150,000 for refurbishment of classrooms from the National School Pride (NSP) program. All these resources were delivered as part of the Gillard Government’s Building the Education Revolution (BER).
The BER is a key element of the Gillard Government’s $42 billion Nation Building – Economic Stimulus Plan to support jobs, stimulate local economies and invest in important infrastructure for the long term.
Justine congratulated Bogangar Public School on their new facilities and spoke of the benefit to both the school and local community.
“These projects provide valuable learning opportunities for our children and supported the employment of many local workers.
“This is what we strived to achieve – this is the essence of the Economic Stimulus Plan,” Justine said.
“The BER has given schools like Bogangar Public School the resources they need to help ensure that a quality education can continue to be provided by our hardworking teachers in our local schools,” said Justine. “It has been fantastic to see the principal, teachers, parents, and tradespeople working together to deliver these important projects for our children.
“With the completion of these projects, teachers and students can now make use of the 21st century facilities they so richly deserve,” said Justine.
The electorate of Richmond has received more than $115 million for 205 projects in 90 local schools.
