TWEED United will join the strong Kingscliff side in the Gold Coast Premier League Women’s Football competition next year after taking out the first division title on the weekend.
“Having attracted over 25 females this year, Tweed United Football signed up two senior women’s teams for the Gold Coast competition,” club women’s coach Armando de Azevedo said.
“Both teams have demonstrated unfailing courage and resilience throughout the season.
“Despite having lost the minor premiership title on a technicality, it is apparent their effort and determination paid off after the Division One side earned a place in the grand final and went on to win the game four-nil against Broadbeach on Sunday.
“With their grand final win, Tweed United Football’s Division One women’s side have been promoted to Premier League for the 2014 season, one level off Australian Rep and State soccer.
“Our Tweed-based club is enthusiastic about taking on the 2014 women’s Premier League challenge and has now reached a stage which requires a higher standard of soccer.
“The club would be delighted to welcome any player of this caliber to join Tweed United Football club and become a part of a powerful and determined women’s premier team. We will be resuming training during January.
