MEMBERS of the Lions Club of Tweed Coast South joined the Tweed Shire Council to plant trees at Pottsville Wetlands on the weekend.
Past International Lions president Dr Wing Kun Tan’s project for his year July 2011 to June 2012 was to have one million trees planted in countries around the world. By the end of his year at the helm, about 13 million trees had been planted world-wide.
It was so successful the Lions Clubs International decided to continue with the project, and have now planted more than 15 million trees.
As a community service, Tweed Coast South Lions put on a barbecue for those people who had volunteered their time to help.
