A HOUSEHOLD name in his homeland Fiji, Inoke Knox Kalounisiga (or Knox) has been honing his guitar skills since he first picked up the instrument at the age of seven.
With his unique raspy voice, soulful stage presence and gifted guitar skills Knox was originally best known for his laid-back contemporary reggae.
But as with all great musicians, Knox has evolved his sound and now it’s a gentle blend of soul reggae rock with a twist of roots.
Headlining many music festivals in Fiji, Knox’s musical journey has included playing back to back with Kevin Borich of the famous Kevin Borich Express at the 2011 International Jazz and Blues Festival, performing as back-up singer with Kulture and supporting the late reggae legend Lucky Dube and Boney M back in 2006. He also worked on a movie featuring Status Quo.
Originally a member of one of Fiji’s best-known bands The Knox Brotherhood, Knox is now building his solo career.
Following the release of his Australian debut single Candy in April 2013 and proudly sponsored by Taylor Guitars, Knox served up a storm at the 2013 Volcom Surf Pro on Tavarua Island, Fiji and also featured in his fellow soul brother and Fijian born artist, Jay Hoad’s recent single ‘Island Boy’.
Returning to Australia for a second East Coast Tour to promote the release of his upcoming EP this summer, Knox has a number of new foot-stomping tracks to share with his much-loved new Australian fans.
