Bring on the Starlettes
THE Pottsville Starlettes will dance up a storm at their annual dance concert at the Pottsville Primary School Hall on 3 November.
The girls will bring all of the glamour and dance of Moulin Rouge to Pottsville – dancing to the movie’s sound track on stage starting at 4pm.
The Starlettes began four-years-ago with dance classes lead by the Brazilian actress and dancer Alessandra Salisbury and the group meet every Wednesday night in Pottsville.
Alessandra has more than twenty-year’s experience in modern ballet and jazz as well as acting and dancing several musical plays in Rio de Janeiro.
When she moved to Australia five-years-ago, she decided to focus her dance classes in creating original dances based on successful musical movies. The idea was instantly adored by the girls in her class (from Pottsville and the Tweed area).
The group has danced to Burlesque, Chicago and Mamma Mia. Now, they are showing the glamour and romance of Moulin Rouge.
Alessandra said the girls were already looking to their next movie target – with Flashdance and Footloose on the list.
Alessandra said the Pottsville Starlettes would dance to the soundtrack of the famous and successful Hollywood musical movie Moulin Rouge.
“The movie opened in 2001 and was written by Baz Luhrmann and Craig Pearce and directed by Baz Luhrmann.
“It is about a poet (played by Ewan McGregor) who falls for a fine-looking courtesan from the Moulin Rouge (played by Nicole Kidman).”
