TWEED Coast Rotary has come up with an interesting way to not only promote the region but also raise money for their local youth programs.
The club this year launched their first ever calendar competition, inviting Tweed Coasters to enter their pictures.
Rotary spokesperson Louanne King said the competition winners were announced last week and the calendar is now on sale.
“Teenager Reece Aleman’s picture Duranbah Delight was chosen to grace the cover this year,” Louanne said.
With the money going to local youth programs she said it was fitting that someone under the age of 16 should have a picture involved.
“We announced the winners last week at the Caba Pub. We had 140 entrants. Local photographer and business owner Paget Thomson judged it for us.”
Paget, of Coastal Vision Photography and coffee shop, has recently launched his own exhibition of pictures taken each day for 100 days on the Coast earlier this year.
The new calendars were on-sale for the first time at the second annual Kingscliff Rotary Duck Race on Sunday morning in Kingscliff and will be on sale from Tweed Coast Rotary Club members and participating local businesses in the next few months.
