Council GM hunt continues

TWEED Shire Councilors are expected to meet next week to put together a short list for the Council General Manager’s job.
Applications for the post of General Manager closed on Monday and Tweed Mayor Cr Barry Longland said they were currently being collated by the recruitment firm.
He said the councilors were due to meet on 5 November to draw up a short-list of candidates to be interviewed for the job.
“I haven’t seen the list but we expect some communication this week,” he said.
Tweed Shire has been without a permanent General Manager since former GM David Keenan was dismissed in March of this year.
Council’s Technology and Corporate Services Director Troy Green has been acting in the role but has not applied for the position.
The Council had advertised the position and gone through interview process earlier this year however the successful applicant had decided against taking the job.
Cr Longland said after this “glitch” in early August, Council had voted to re-advertise the position for a further two months in a bid to ensure the right person was found for the job.
