Little battler’s celebration

The Greens with tiny Matilda.

By TANIA PHILLIPS

TINY Matilda Green is a battler.
The youngster was born at just 24 weeks and spent her first months in hospital in Sydney before finally making it home with her parents to the Tweed Coast.
To celebrate her life and battle and to raise money for Miracle Babies Saltbar, where here mum and dad work, will hold a fund-raising afternoon on Sunday from 3pm.
The afternoon gives the Saltbar Beachbar and Bistro family a chance to toast the health of their precious new member Paul and Juliet Green’s baby girl Matilda.
Matilda’s mum Juliet Green is Saltbar Beachbar and Bistro’s general manager and dad Paul “Walesy” Green is Salt Cellars manager.
“Matilda was very ill for the first three months of her life, we nearly lost her on quite a few occasions,” Juliet said of her tiny battler born 16 weeks early in late February.
“We were far from home and it was a very distressing time for us all. During our time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, we had many angels caring for Matilda, Paul and I….. One of the most memorable being Frances from Miracle Babies.”
Miracle Babies is Australia’s leading organisation supporting premature and sick newborns, their families and the hospitals that care for them.
Since 2005, Miracle Babies Foundation has been passionate in developing and providing vital programs and resources to support and enhance a family’s experience from a threatened pregnancy, hospital journey with a premature or sick newborn, the transition to home and beyond.
Miracle Babies is manned primarily by mums who themselves have been through a journey with their precious little ones in the NICU.
“We are very lucky that Matilda is making amazing progress at the moment and we would love to give something back to the people who supported us through our hospital stay and who are still supporting us but also to the families who will also take this heart wrenching journey and to the hospitals who take such amazing care of our precious little miracles!” Juliet said.
Thr call is out to join them for an afternoon of raffles, silent auctions and joy to celebrate beautiful Matilda, and raise funds for the wonderful work of Miracle Babies.
