Fishing on the Tweed with David Solano

I HAVEN’T been this excited about surface fishing for a while, you see I don’t often lose fish but on the weekend I got smoked! Not once, not twice, but three times and it all happened in the canals.
I had on a Berkley pop dog in the hooch color but that lure only lasted 10 or so casts before something big grabbed it and headed straight for the nearest jetty and busted me off.
I couldn’t do a thing about it, there was no stopping that fish, whatever it was – maybe a decent size trevally I think because a little while later I caught a small trev who had a lucky escape – because as I was fighting this fish I noticed something big and brown following it.
It didn’t click at first but then I got a better look and thought “oh, no”, it was a bull shark around a metre long and it was trying to eat my fish.
I quickly got the trev in the yak – oh, and I also sat down rather quickly as I’d been standing up on the yak and I didn’t want to risk falling off with these hungry critters around. Cheers.
