HE’S making a list and checking it twice – yes Santa is on his way and will be stopping off with lots of other special guests at this year’s Coolangatta Christmas Carols in Queen Elizabeth Park on 15 December.
The park will come alive from 5pm with kids’ entertainment, markets, amusement rides and a special performance by The Voice contestant Mitchell Anderson and the Lamplights.
The Coolangatta Christmas Carols have been organised in collaboration between Connecting Southern Gold Coast, the City of Gold Coast Division 14 and the Southern Gold Coast Chamber of Commerce.
Southern Gold Coast Chamber of Commerce president and Beach House Seaside Resort manager Gail O’Neill said the chamber was very excited to once again partner with Connecting Southern Gold Coast and City of Gold Coast Division 14 to present Coolangatta Christmas Carols.
“This event creates a wonderful experience for local and tourist families beside our beautiful Coolangatta Beach,” she said.
“We are expecting ‘thousands’ of people to come along and enjoy the evening of entertainment.”
Connecting Southern Gold Coast CEO Peter Doggett said he hoped that people from across the entire length and breadth of the Gold Coast would get into the Christmas spirit, beachside at Coolangatta.
“We have a great line-up of artists this year who will be spreading the Christmas cheer and the fireworks will be a hit with the kids,” he said.
“We hope those that attend complete their night with dinner in one of the great cafes and restaurants around Coolangatta and Kirra. Most will be open to cater for the huge influx of people expected to be here for the carols.”
The entertainment line-up includes the Nightlights, who will have the children and parents dancing and singing to their tunes; the Lamplights who will perform traditional Christmas Carols; Mitchell Anderson, who recently appeared on The Voice; and a special performance by Bazinga, a local Barbershop Quartet. The evening will end with a bang with a colourful display of fireworks over Coolangatta Beach.
The Coolangatta Christmas Carols is a free event and is open to the general public. Festivities commence at 5pm (Qld) and will finish at 7pm. For further information visit www.southerngoldcoast.com.au.
