FALLS Music and Arts Festival Byron have just announced that more than 100 local acts will be bringing a unique Northern Rivers flavour to the inaugural festival to be held at North Byron Parklands, Wooyung, over the New Year period.
Among those joining international acts including Neil Finn, Vampire Weekend and The Wombats will be Tweed locals Deya Dova, Willow Beats and Bill Jacobi.
Falls Festival will create a Village area filled to the brim with a kaleidescope of performers including gypsy folk bands, hip-hop beat producers, singer-songwriters, cabaret performers, DJs, burlesque dancers, roving theatre, Bollywood dancers, yoga, creative workshops, giant puppet weddings and more.
The festival is also looking for volunteers with an artistic or theatrical bent to get involved in the creation of a short performance piece for the festival or help create the massive puppets.
Art Camp volunteers will get free entry into the festival. If that sounds like your kind of fun, then apply through the Byron Bay section of the Falls Festival website or email Suzanne Kalk on stusuz@westnet.com.au.
Three-day tickets for locals are still available to the festival that has sold out everywhere else. Only the purchaser needs to be from South Tweed or Byron Shire, so get your buddies to snaffle you one! www.byronbay.fallsfestival.com.au
