AARON Westerlund and Lauren Teitzel have been named open men’s and open women’s champions at the annual Tennis Terranora dinner held at South Tweed Sports Club last week.
More than 100 members, guests and friends of Tennis Terranora celebrated the close of a very exciting year with their presentation of trophies and Christmas party.
Highlight of the evening was a report and slide presentation by architect Rob King and president Rob Nienhuis informing everyone of the current progress and future plans for the group’s new Joan Nicoll Tennis Centre at Terranora.
“We were delighted to see two graduates of our Tennis Terranora Junior Program, Aaron Westerlund and Lauren Teitzel, take out the open men’s and women’s championships for 2013,” club stalwart Joan Nicoll said.
There was a surprise for the club too with the group receiving a new perpetual trophy, the Hungry Jacks Sportsmanship Award for junior players, from Matt Fraser from the Tweed Hungry Jacks stores.
