TAFE NSW New England Institute Armidale Campus is offering a course of ten weekly workshops to bring users up to speed with social media and its applications for business and private use.
It begins on February 28 and will run on Tuesday evenings between 6.30-9pm at the Armidale Campus.
The course covers the whole range of social media, Facebook and Twitter, You Tube, Vimeo and Blogs, using Cloud Computing, Digital Devices, Wikis, Linkedin and Professional Sites as well as the National Broadband Network and its implications.
The workshops will be delivered by TAFE teachers Paul Fogo and David Cook, both with extensive experience in social media, digital networking, marketing and traditional media.
“This course is so timely as people are now asking so many questions about social media and how it can benefit them. They also want to know how they can take full advantage of the early roll out of the NBN,” Mr Fogo said.
“We have designed the course for web migrants rather than digital natives, because they are the group who are most keen to upgrade their skills and keep abreast of social media developments and its implications and applications.”
The course will involve tutoring, discussion and practical application.
“Social media is the communication tool of our time,” Mr Cook said. “Technology is moving at such a speed many people are finding it difficult to keep up.
“The course will give participants a general overview of the social media spectrum and also how to access the applications they might want to use in their business, professional or private lives.
“By the end of the course they should be up to speed with how social media works, how it is used and accessed and how to apply it most effectively for personal and business use.”
The course will apply to both Apple Macs and PCs and most mobile phones and Armidale TAFE Campus is connected to the NBN which will be demonstrated during the sessions.
The cost of the program is $320 per person.
