Break is over

New England Bowls By RICHIE CLUTTERBUCK

IT’S crunch time for our district pennant teams this weekend with play resuming after the break.
In the two’s, City lead the way on 17 points from Kootingal on 9.5, and these two clubs appear to be the only ones with a winning chance as Guyra sit on 5 and Inverell East on 4.5.
They would have to win their three matches convincingly and hope for unlikely results in the others. These matches will be played at Uralla on Saturday and Sunday with the winners off to the state finals at Port City in August.
Ex-Services holds a four-point lead over Narrabri in section two of grade three, with South Tamworth a narrow leader on 14 points to West Tamworth’s 13.5.
Ex-Services will face a strong challenge from Narrabri but appears to be in the box seat.

Where they stand
IN section two of grade four, Uralla on 10 points trails Manilla, which sits on top with 16 points after matches at City.
In section one, Goodooga leads on 16 points from Moree on 10 and it looks like Uralla will have to beat the strong Manilla club to progress.
Glen Innes holds the lead in section one of grade five with 16 points, with Oxley second on 10 and Walcha third on 7.
Section two is close with South Tamworth on 13, a point ahead of Kootingal 12 and Quirindi close on 9.
Lighting Ridge and Narrabri will fight out grade six with the Ridge on 10 and Narrabri on 8. In our section of the sevens, Ex-Services has progressed to zone play-offs.
