BEATEN grand finalists St Kilda Cougars returned to the netball court in style on Saturday, blitzing Swifts in the opening round of the Armidale District Netball Association.
The Cougars’ experience paid dividends as they dominated the midcourt to feed their goalers, who managed to hit 70 goals for the match.
Swifts could managed just 34 in response.
Earlier, PLC showed it could be a force to be reckoned with in 2014 after a dominant win against the Ravens.
The student side moved the ball quickly and efficiently in the centre, while their defence stood tall against a Ravens side lacking height under the ring.
Zoe Selby and Gabrielle Holmes were two of the standouts for PLC, while Laura Cambridge tried gallantly for the Ravens, who lost 35-15.
In the other division one match, Pulse had too much power for NEGS, winning 41-23.
Reigning premiers Impies had a bye and face grand final foes St Kilda Cougars this Saturday at noon.
Swifts and Cougars will look to get their first win of the season when they do battle at 1.20pm, while the Ravens and PLC meet again at 2.40pm.
