THIS year marks the 30th anniversary for the Armidale Tree Group Inc., Armidale’s community owned native plant nursery.
Started in 1983 by a group of residents concerned about the loss of trees across the New England, the group has grown from strength to strength and now has a fantastic nursery and woodland centre at 80 Mann Street, Armidale.
The nursery supplies a wide range of locally adapted native plants for the farm and garden along with locally grown vegie seedlings, fertilisers and composts for the home garden.
The Armidale Tree Group provides a range of services including farm revegetation, weed control and landscaping.
To celebrate the amazing achievement of reaching 30 this year, the group is hosting a number of fantastic celebratory events. These include a birthday dinner at the Armidale Town Hall on Saturday 12 October. Tickets are available from the nursery at 80 Mann Street. There will also be an Open Day at the nursery during the day as well.
Tim Marshall, one of Australia’s leading organic gardening experts, will be running a workshop on Growing Organic vegetables in the backyard.
Come along for a free barbecue, grab some nursery specials, learn more about natives and take a walk through the woodland behind the nursery.
Finally, on Sunday, 13 October we will be joining with NERAM and the Black Gully Music Festival in a joint Birthday Bash with music, workshops and culture at NERAM.
Everyone is welcome, and we look forward to seeing you that weekend. For further information go to our website, Facebook page, drop in to the nursery, or just give us a call 6771 1620.

Sub head: Organic vegetable seedlings now available
THIS year the Armidale Tree Group has launched a new nursery venture, organic vegetable seedlings and organic garden supplies.
With an increasing interest in people growing their own organic vegetables at home, the Armidale Tree Group has begun growing locally adapted, heritage varieties of vegetable seedlings in the nursery.
This means that local residents can purchase vegetable seedlings most of which are locally grown and adapted to local conditions.
Staff members Ray and Emily are overseeing the seedling production and not only bring their nursery experience but their many years experience of growing vegetables at home as locals. Their experience also means that customers can get good advice on when to grow what.
To further support the backyard grower the group has added a range of organic fertilisers, composts and pest and disease products in the nursery shop.
If you want to grow chemical free, healthy home vegetables and herbs then the Armidale Tree Group has the range of garden products along with good advice to help you.
The Armidale Tree Group nursery is open Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 9-1pm.
