COMMENT By MATT NICHOLLS
ARMIDALE, take a bow.
The city was buzzing on Sunday and visitors would have left with a long-lasting impression.
Cafes were open and packed to the rafters, the mall was bustling with people and stalls, while the Farmer’s Market in Curtis Park was a hive of activity.
Most importantly, the sun was shining.
Cashing in on the success of A Day on the Green, the push by Armidale Dumaresq Council to open up the city on Sunday was once again a great decision.
You can’t buy that kind of publicity.
While you can’t do such things every Sunday, there is a real opportunity to do it more often.
Having local band Terra Firma belt out tunes was a real winner.
The music was popular and could be heard from far and wide.
There’s a lot great about Armidale that goes unwritten, but Sunday’s initiative was a real winner and should be lauded by all and sundry.
