Show action kicks off

JUNE Dangar says she is keeping a positive attitude ahead of this weekend’s Armidale Show.
Rain has continually plagued the show over the years and the show society secretary said she dare not think about another wet event.
“I’ve ordered a water truck to keep the dust down in the arena, so I am being as positive as possible,” Mrs Dangar said.
If the weather is fine, the show could see its biggest crowd in a decade.
The two-day event kicks off on Friday morning and there is plenty of entertainment for the whole family.
“I’ve been told we have a lot of new rides this year,” Mrs Dangar said.
“The demolition derby is back again on Saturday night and we’ll have the fireworks on Friday.”
The return of the Canadian Lumberjacks is likely to prove popular, while this year’s poultry section will set new standards, Mrs Dangar said.
“All the entries across the board have been pretty steady.”
The Armidale Show opens at 6.30am on Friday and Saturday and runs until about 10pm.
