CONFIDENCE in PLC Armidale’s future has forced a restructure at the top.
From next year, the Presbyterian College Council will appoint a principal at the all-girls school, rather than a head of school.
“A decade ago, a decision was taken to combine the PLC Sydney and PLC Armidale college councils and to place William McKeith as executive principal of both schools,” council chair David Lim said.
“The model has continued very successfully since Paul Burgis was appointed as executive principal in 2011.
“PLC Armidale is now in a very strong position. The campus has been renewed, enrolments are strong, staff morale is healthy and the financial position is excellent.
“PLC Armidale is and will continue to be the premier academic, all-girls’ college with a strong Christian focus based in the New England region.
“It has always been envisaged once we reached this position that the college council would seek to appoint a principal again at PLC Armidale and develop a partnership arrangement between our two colleges.”
This change will enable PLC Armidale to be a full member of the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia and Association of Heads of Independent Girls Schools.
It also changes reporting structure and governance, and heralds an exciting time in PLC Armidale’s rich 127-year history as it forges ahead offering an unashamedly all-girls’ education, with the unequivocal support of the Presbyterian Church.
