PUNTERS flocked to the TABs of Armidale yesterday to get involved in the Melbourne Cup.
By 10am, more than 400 people had visited the TAB agency on Marsh Street, with more than 2000 expected by the time the Cup jumped at 3pm.
It’s such a busy day that Colin McAulay and George Murray were hired to help out the once-a-year punters fill out their betting tickets.
“I’ve been doing this for a few years now and you’d be surprised at how many people come in to have a bet,” Mr Murray said.
