PARENTS and supervisors of learner drivers are invited to attend a free workshop in Armidale to help them assist young drivers starting out on the road.
Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall said the state-funded program would be handy to all parents teaching their children how to drive.
“The workshop is designed to offer parents and supervisors hands-on advice on how to deliver the best on-road experience for learner drivers,” Mr Marshall said.
“They include information about licence conditions for learner and provisional drivers, young driver safety issues and low-risk driving.”
Mr Marshall said parents and supervisors of learner drivers played a crucial role in making the roads safer.
“Parents and supervisors who have attended this course found it boosted their confidence, helped them better plan and deliver driving sessions and allowed them to share experiences with other parents and supervisors,” he said.
“The course also reinforces the important role of families in providing on-going support for young motorists in the early years of driving.”
The Armidale workshop will be held in the library at O’Connor Catholic College on Thursday, 14 November at 5.30pm.
