1. SESQUICENTENARY EVENTS
Saturday 16 November 5.30pm onwards
Folk Museum, then Town Hall
The Mayor Laurie Bishop invites all Armidalions to dinner at the Town Hall to celebrate the Sesquicentenary of Armidale Dumaresq Council. Classy function at $80 a head but includes a three-course meal, a fashion parade and pre-dinner drinks. Tickets at the council on 6770 3600.

ARMIDALE – OUR TOWN
FIVE performances at the Town Hall:
Friday 22 November at 11am (sold out) and 8pm;
Saturday 23 November at 2pm and 8pm (Gala Night);
Sunday 24 November at 2pm.
The history of Armidale is captured through delightful and amusing stories and songs (with a couple of sad ones thrown in). Members of the City Band are also performing. Narrator Jan Wyles is ably supported by Steve Widders and 17 other performers including three children, an eager dog and a sprightly chook. Book carrsXpress newsagency in the Mall. $30, $20, $15, $5. 2. BUTTERFLY BALL
Saturday 16 November, 5.30pm for 6pm, Ex-Servies Club.
Dust off your dancing shoes and book the babysitter for this debutante ball for all ages and abilities. Celebrating International Day of People with Disability. Formal presentation accompanied by PLC String quartet and then dancing to popular local band, Shake, Rattle and Roll. Tickets $30/$20 on sale at Servies Club. Also hovering above the walkway between the Mall and Cinders Lane will be 5000 origami butterflies representing the 5000 people with disability in Armidale. The creation of Genny Tavener who made 1000 origami flowers on behalf of people with disability a few years ago.

3. BENJAMIN BRITTEN AT 100
Friday 22 November at 7.30pm, Old Teacher’s College.
Anniversary concert celebrating some of Britten’s best loved choral and instrumental works performed by Fiori Musicale, conducted by Bruce Menzies.

4. THE STONES
Friday 22 November at 7.30pm, Hoskins Theatre.

5. KODAC SINGERS
Sunday 24 November from 12.30pm-1pm, Uniting Church.
Presenting a-capella songs by Bach, Bartok and Australian composers including local student Stella Quast.

6. ARMIDALE CITY BAND
Sunday 24 November from 1pm-1.45pm, Central Park.
A free concert in the Rotunda in Central Park followed by a quick dash by several musicians to the Town Hall to play in Armidale – Our Town.

7. ARMIDALE CHORAL SOCIETY
Sunday 24 November at 3pm, Uniting Church.
Presenting A Royal Baby Celebration and Christmas Carols. $15 (with afternoon tea).

8. BELLA VOCE
Saturday 23 November at 7.30pm and Sunday 24 November at 2pm, Ursuline Chapel.
Eight young opera singers from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music present Verdi, Handel, Bellini, Gounod and Mendelssohn.

9. A DOLL’S HOUSE
Opens Wednesday 27 November, UNE Arts Theatre.
A woman asserts her independence. Classic drama by Henrik Ibsen re-set in 1950’s Australia, directed by Ruth Thompson and Martin Mantle.
