Services on the board

By MATT NICHOLLS

EX-SERVICES registered its first win of the Armidale District Cricket Association season after upsetting City at the Sportsground on Saturday.
In another bowler-dominated match, Ex-Services managed to defend its tally of 121 to move into third position on the ladder.
A fighting knock by all-rounder Luke Brown (31) and some creative strokeplay by Cody Graham (21) helped Services post a defendable score, although at the change of innings it didn’t seem enough.
On a good batting wicket and fast outfield, City seemingly did enough with the ball, with Andrew Brownlie snaring 4/17 from his 12 overs and Steve Butler nabbing 3/29.
Some good bowling by Ex-Services and some poor batting judgement saw City fall well short in reply.
On the back of four wicket hauls from Jason Boland and Jared Graham, Services knocked off their fancied rivals for a paltry 104.
Ryan Whitton topped the scoring for City with 22.
First grade ladder: Hillgrove 14pts; City 11; Ex-Services 8; Easts 5.
