The 2012 Australia Day celebrations at the new venue, the Armidale Showground will be a family fun day filled with lots of entertainment for all ages.
The day will begin at 10.30am with performances by the Armidale City Band, followed by bush poetry by Gordon Edmonds and the official ceremony starting at 11.00am. The official proceedings will include a Citizenship Ceremony, Australia Day messages and the presentation of local awards by Armidale’s Australia Day Ambassador, Rick Timperi.
After the ceremony, there will be fun activities for the whole family with entertainment by the Jug Addicts, a tug-o-war competition, New England Solar Power, a tractor pull, dunking machine, dog obedience and agility demonstrations by the Armidale Dog Training Club, mechanical bull, quizzes and games for all ages, Beppo the Clown, Joe the Magician, antique machinery and classic cars displays, historical information, face painting and craft activities, weaving and spinning demonstrations and much more.
During the afternoon, locals will be able to meet and talk with Armidale’s Australia Day Ambassador, Rick Timperi. The days activities will end around 3.30pm.
Armidale Dumaresq Council’s Australia Day Co-ordinator, Alex Kentish, invites the whole community to come along and be a proud Australian.
