WITH Armidale’s Table Tennis Club fast approaching a new season, Patrick Laher, the club’s president is eager to recruit new members.
Be it competitive or for enjoyment, the Armidale Table Tennis Club caters for all ages and all level of competitiveness.
“We want to recruit as many people as possible; we cater for everyone – women, men, children and all levels of skills and experience,” Mr Laher said.
The club officially started in 1988, and has grown vastly since its establishment.
Even though the sport is not highly sought after in Australia, Armidale’s club is popular – having 48 members at one stage.
“Table tennis is not always perceived as a popular sport, Australians are much more heavily involved in outdoor sports due to the warmer climate, but we have many members and we all have a great time,” Mr Laher said.
Grading for the next season is taking place on Thursday 26 September. Basic training is offered for beginners with the club’s ball machine on Tuesdays.
For the more experienced members the opportunity exists to compete all over NSW.
The Armidale club is the current holder of the Waterfall Way Challenge Cup and have been undefeated in the last three competitions.
