MEMBER for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall has welcomed the establishment of a NSW Parliamentary inquiry into the provision of air passenger transport services in regional NSW.
Mr Marshall said Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner had written to the Standing Committee on State Development last Friday asking it to inquire and report on a number of matters associated with the provision of regular passenger air transport service to regional centres.
In October, Mr Marshall used State Parliament to fire a broadside at QantasLink for its frustrating level of service with “frequent and extended delays” to flights between Armidale and Sydney.
The MP also called for a public inquiry into regional airline services, in an attempt to improve the situation and investigate ways to encourage greater competition on regional NSW routes.
“I’m delighted to see this inquiry formally established given the deep concern and frustration expressed by many residents in the region about current air services,” Mr Marshall said.
