CHRISTMAS will come to life in the mall on Saturday, with Armidale Dumaresq Council joining forces with Locals 4 Locals to celebrate the festive season.
A bumper day of activities is scheduled to begin at 9.30am with the Armidale City Band performing Christmas carols, followed by the Armidale Talent Showcase.
There will be no shortage of fun for the kids with face-painting, craft, temporary tattoos, a magician, fairy floss, jumping castle and cup cake decorating.
The major shop and win competition will also be drawn before Santa and his elves fly in for a quick visit to hand out presents.
At lunchtime, local band BopCatz will perform while shoppers enjoy lunch from one of the many food stalls.
Christmas in the Mall committee member Jane Hannon said the mall would be transformed with all the colour and sounds of the Christmas season.
“Council, along with Locals 4 Locals, have put a huge effort in this year to organise a fun-filled day of activities to celebrate the Christmas season,” she said.
“We tried last year but we were just too ambitious, so this year we have pulled it back down to the four-and-a-half hours from 9.30am to 2pm on Saturday.
“Hopefully this will be the beginning of regular Christmas celebrations in the mall that we can grow and expand on over the years.”
